Biosafety Committee

It is a collegiate and autonomous body in charge of analyzing, evaluating and ensuring that the research and innovation developed at the Catholic University of the Santísima Concepción complies, in all its stages, with the biosafety standards established in the Biosafety and Risk Standards Manual. Associates of the National Research and Development Agency of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation, through the review and monitoring of the respective research protocols.

Its main functions are:

  • Evaluate, report and certify the biosafety aspects of research projects submitted to evaluation by researchers from the Catholic University of the Santísima Concepción or other institutions, which involve all types of studies in humans, animals, or with dangerous reagents.
  • Ensure compliance with national biosafety standards applicable to the research projects indicated in the previous point.
  • Monitor and maintain records of the biosafety aspects of approved projects developed at the University.
    Advise University authorities on biosafety matters for research.
  • Promote and collaborate in the biosafety training of researchers and undergraduate and graduate students, in the field of their competence.
